Welcome to the new school year. Unfortunately, due to the recent job action we had a delayed start to the year but now that we are back I want to assure you I plan on making this year great! I think it is fair to say we are all extremely excited to be back at Quadra this year (no more school buses!). It was a sacrifice vacating the school last year so that it could be seismically upgraded but it was well worth it given our new and improved surroundings! When we packed up to move over to out temporary location at Richmond school back in June 2013 I packed all of my teaching supplies into 120 boxes. When originally asked to predict how many boxes I would need I significantly underestimated by guessing 50. I took this as an opportunity to clean out items I no longer need or use and am pleased to report that on the return trip to Quadra in June of 2014 the final box count was only 103! There is nothing like a move to help one realize what is worth keeping and what can be tossed. While packing last Spring I took note of how many boxes contained items belonging to me and how many boxes contained items belonging to the school. As it turns out, less than 10 of my 103 boxes contained items that belong to the school, the remaining items have either been given to be by retiring teachers or I have paid for myself. We were allowed back into our school on Friday which is when the daunting task of unpacking began. Though there is still much to do I feel that after spending the weekend hard at work I am ready to welcome students into a functional classroom Monday morning. Check out the before pictures below: |
