Next Monday our school will officially unveil our Booster Bench. This week the students of Division 13 learned what a Booster Bench is and why we are having one installed on our school grounds. Essentially, the bench is a safe place to go when you are in need of a social or emotional "boost" or, it is where you go if you are in the mood to "boost" someone else up. To prepare for the arrival of our bench, the students wrote about what the bench is and what purpose it serves. Check out the student work below and be sure to scroll through to see all of the wonderful thinking! The Art and Book Show last night was a great success. Thank you to all the families who came out to support our budding artists and authors. We do this event every year at Quadra. It is a great opportunity for every student in the school to create a finished product to publish and share with the school community.
We have just concluded our unit on community. We defined a community, talked about how our needs are met in a community and how communities in different parts of Canada, and the world, differ. We learned how people have different perspectives and how these perspectives are influenced by our personal interests and values. Last week we made maps of our hearts (which are displayed in our hallway and worth a look). We tied things up this week by drawing maps of our own communities. Each student included only those items that they personally felt are essential to have in their community! Be sure to scroll through the maps above to see the similarities and differences in the maps.
