Our first Nature walk of the year was a great success! We walked to Summit park looking for signs of Fall along the way. The focus of the walks is to appreciate nature, observe our surroundings, use our 5 senses, and record changes in the seasons. We also spend a great deal of time talking about pedestrian safety and we are learning to read street signs. When we returned from our walk the students used words and pictures to recall what they saw.
An added bonus for us was all the election signs dotting the neighbourhood. Seeing the signs provided a great opportunity to discuss the upcoming election. Keeping the language simple I introduced the idea that in October, Canadian adults will be voting to elect the new leader of Canada. also took lots of pictures of the Gary Oak meadow which we will use to track and compare changes throughout the coming seasons. You can view the September pictures here. Comments are closed.
